Kitchen Helper Job Description

As a Kitchen Helper, you will assist the cook in making meals, managing food donations, and keeping the kitchen running smoothly. This role is important for our Williams Lake Corps and supports both our spiritual and social goals.

Salary: $17.40 per hour
Job Type: Contract, Fixed Term Contract
Shift and Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Job Position

  •  Kitchen Helper

Job Responsibilities:

Help the cook prepare meals, including special dietary meals as needed.
Follow procedures for efficient food delivery and resource use.

Keep the kitchen and equipment clean.

Process donated items: unload, sort, rotate stock, and keep records.
Work well with volunteers positively and respectfully.
Do general cleanup tasks, including snow removal and garbage disposal.
Fill out incident reports and maintain records for donors and donations.

Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Food Safe Level 1 certification.
  • Basic First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training (preferred but not required).

Experience

Previous work in a kitchen or restaurant is preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Great at customer service and friendly to everyone.
  • Can work well with a team and take charge when needed.
  • Able to stand for long periods and lift to 30 pounds.
  • Flexible and can handle changes in routine.
  • Open to working flexible hours and keeping information private.

Preferred Skills and Capabilities

Background Check: You might need to complete a background check.
Online Training: You may need to finish Praesidium Abuse Training and Health and Safety courses.
Fit4Mission Training: Completing Fit4Mission training might be required.

This position does not provide visa sponsorship.

Salary and Benefits

Pay Per Hour: $17.40
Duration of Contract: Three months, with the possibility of extension upon mutual consent.
